Year in review meme:
1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before? Hmmm....howsabout had sex in a foreign country?

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't make resolutions per se, so no, I suppose.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Not this year.

4. Did anyone close to you die? Thankfully, no.

5. What countries did you visit? England and Canada (but living like 5 miles from the border makes the latter really easy to accomplish now).

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005? Contentment more often, I think...

7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? July 29, when G and I married.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Getting into all of the grad schools I applied to, and getting a well-paying research job to boot.

9. What was your biggest failure? Not getting JP into a gifted program, which doesn't exist in this school district, and being unable to advocate effectively enough to get him skipped a grade, so he is somewhat bored at school and there is little I can do. :P

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? No, luckily, apart from the usual bumps and bruises. I fell on the ice yesterday, but nothing major.

11. What was the best thing you bought? Wedding band for G

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Um....all of us at times, I suppose

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? and the same here, no one is perfect

14. Where did most of your money go? Housing, food, clothing, books, etc

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? getting married, starting school, moving

16. What song will always remind you of 2005? Oh gosh, I have no idea.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
A. Happier or sadder? Happier
B. Thinner or fatter? G says "thinner", I am unsure. I can wear all of the same clothes, though.
C. Richer or poorer? Richer in many regards, not merely financial

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Enjoyed myself without worrying about what I need to get done.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Slacking and procrastinating

20. How will you be spending Christmas? We will have Xmas Eve here, then leave for G's parents' house around noon, getting there around 6 p.m. . We'll spend a couple of days there and so this will be the first Xmas my kids have spent away from home!

21. Did you fall in love in 2005? Was already in love.

22. How many one-night stands? None, lol.

23. What was your favorite TV program? Um.....probably Unsolved Mysteries.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? No!

25. What was the best book you read? hmm....am drawing a blank-- I read a LOT of stuff, but most of it is pretty esoteric and specific to my field, which is why I rarely talk about what I have read in my LJ.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery? Nothin'. I hardly listen to music anymore.

27. What did you want and get? Hmm.....I got everything I asked for and more. :)

28. What was your favorite film of this year? The only movie I saw this year was The Incredibles, which was actually darned good!

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 31 on 10/22. We went out for tapas and had a nice time. The kids were VERY well behaved, which was an excellent gift.

34. What political issue stirred you the most? Oh, several I researched in IL, in particular access to emergency contraception/Plan B.

35. Who did you miss? My IL friends. :( We always had a big to-do this time of year, with a cookie exchange and party, and I don't have friends up here yet to do things like that with.

36. Who was the best new person you met? Many people in my classes are interesting to talk to, and my professors are terrific.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005 You can't always get what you want, but sometimes, what you want isn't what you NEED.
38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: No ideas, perhaps I will try this part later.
